Resisting Entropy 2026

Resisting Entropy

Our human experience is a glimpse into the increasing entropy of everything, the irreversible dispersion of energy into increasingly less available states. Our evolution from individual cells to complex organisms, our languages, religions, cultures, societies: all temporary concentrations of energy, matter, and intention that resist this dispersion. This work is itself an act of that resistance. A programmer writes algorithms that simulate growth and erosion. A knitter transforms thread into structure. A jeweler sets a stone in metal with meticulous intention. Each of us, in our own practice, concentrates energy into form, knowing it is temporary, but doing it anyway. The collaboration between Neki Rivera, Tony Díaz, and Luis E. Fraguada stems from the growth and erosion simulation program developed by Luis. The moments generated by this program are exported in formats and resolutions suitable for Neki’s knitting machine and Tony’s bead loom.

Luis E. Fraguada is an artist who creates art with code as a means to interrogate reality at all scales, from the cosmological and abstract to the quotidian and tangible.

Neki Rivera is a weaver who uses the medium as a form of artistic expression. Neki uses hand-dyed natural fibers to work directly with color.

Tony Díaz, a creative person since childhood, creates jewelry using the Miyuki technique. Tony finds peace in designing pieces from scratch. Tony is fascinated by transforming tiny beads into unique designs, considering it an art form.
